Settings Tab
The second step of the Create New Quote process is to configure the settings for your new quote.
The Settings Tab has three sections:
- Quote Settings: Select a file to upload from your computer if available and configure the settings you'd like to apply to your new quote.
- Packing Methods: Select, deselect, and order the priority of packing methods you want CPQ to load into your line items in the auto-matching process.
- Folders: Select the folder in which you want this quote to appear under. Leave All selected if you would like to create your quote under the root folder for your CPQ instance.
Quote Settings
This section allows you to choose and upload an RFQ file from your computer, and configure a number of settings that apply to your quote.
Choose File & Select Sheet
If you have an RFQ file to upload into your new quote, click on the Browse button, and you will see a file picker pop up that you can use to find the RFQ you'd like to upload in your computer. Select a file and click the Open button on the bottom right of the pop up:
Supplyframe CPQ accepts files that are less than 5MB in size and supports the following file types:
- XLSX
- XLS
- CSV
- TSV
CPQ also does not support Strict OOXML file types. For best results, we recommend saving your files in XLSX format.
If your selected file has multiple sheets, click on the Select Sheet button and choose an option from the dropdown menu. Note that CPQ will pre-select the first sheet in your chosen file when you select a file from your computer.
Multipliers
If you would like to apply multipliers to your new quote, enter your multiplier values, separated by commas, into the field.
The number of multipliers you can add in this feature corresponds with the number of quantity breaks you have defined in the Quote Preferences page of System Settings. CPQ supports up to 6 quantity breaks, but is set to 3 quantity breaks out-of-the-box.
Last Pick Settings
The Last Pick feature makes part cleansing and corrections easier. When unknown or incorrect parts are found, if these parts have previously been corrected before by any user in your instance of CPQ, the application will suggest the latest part correction to you when you hover over the Use Last Pick button in List View:
When this setting is turned on, instead of showing you a Last Pick is available to reference and asking you to choose to use the Last Pick, CPQ will instead automatically replace the unknown or incorrect part you entered into your list (TESTPART in the example above), with the latest part correction made by users in your instance of CPQ:
Quantity Splitting Settings
When line items have requested quantities that cannot be fully met given the packing method of the quoted part, CPQ allows users to manually split the requested quantities across two or more valid packing methods to meet the full quantity amount.
When the Quantity Splitting feature is turned on however, CPQ will automatically split invalid requested quantities for you:
Suggested Price Settings
CPQ has two price columns in List View - Suggested Price and Quote Price.
The purpose of the Suggested Price column is to show pricing that has been calculated by and is being recommended by Pricing Engine. Other available price sources, as well as quote and order history, is shown in this column as well.
The purpose of the Quote Price column is to display the pricing you will actually be quoting your customer.
When this feature is turned on, CPQ will automatically populate the quantity and price fields in the Quote Price column with those shown in Suggested Price column.
When the feature is off, the Suggested Price column will still be populated based on Pricing Engine rules for your quote, but the Quote Price column will be empty, and you will have to manually populate the quantity and price values in this column.
External Suggestions
Supplyframe's extensive database of global electronics components is available to CPQ users in the quoting process.
Turn this feature on if you'd like CPQ to provide external suggestions for your line items that may not exist in your part catalog.
These suggestions include the following:
- External Suggestions
- External Form, Fit, Function Cross References
- Functional Equivalents
Packing Methods
The Packing Methods feature allows users to determine the priority of packing methods CPQ will automatically match to when you upload line items to your quote.
For example, if the Packing Methods in the Settings page are configured as follows:
When you upload an MPN to your quote that has multiple Packing Methods like the following:
CPQ will auto-match to the CT packing method first because it is prioritized highest in your settings:
If the CT Packing Method is unavailable for the MPN, CPQ will match to the next available Packing Method in the list, which in this case is TR.
Note that you can deselect Packing Methods from the Settings as well. When this happens, during the auto-matching process, CPQ will skip and auto-match to the next available Packing Method in the list.
If all available Packing Methods for an MPN are deselected, CPQ will auto-match to the first available Packing Method for the part.
Folders
The folders feature allows users to add the quote they are creating into an existing, open folder of their choice. Note that quotes cannot be added to closed folders.
Select the folder you want to add your new quote under or leave the All folder selected if you prefer to leave your quote in the root folder.
Once you've configured all options in the Settings page, select the Next: Mapping button on the bottom of the page to move onto the next step of the new quote creation process. For more information, review the article Create New Quote - Mapping.
