Mapping Tab
The Mapping tab will only be active if you selected a file to upload in the Settings step of the new quote creation process.
If you did not upload a file from your computer, the Mapping step is not necessary and CPQ will take you to the next and final step of the quote creation process.
Mapping is the most important step for loading your quote, because it determines how the data in your customer's file is recognized.
When you upload a quote, CPQ helps you make sure you're importing all the correct data from your customer. This includes mapping columns appropriately.
Select Sheet
If your uploaded file has multiple sheets:
To start the mapping process, verify that the correct sheet is selected in the section below:
If you need to adjust the sheet in which the line items have been added, click on the Selected Sheet dropdown and choose the right option.
When you do so, CPQ will automatically map the columns into the Standard Columns shown in the table on this page and show a preview of the data each column contains:
Standard Columns In CPQ
The columns you can upload into CPQ are the following:
- MPN: Manufacturer Part Number for the item the customer is requesting.
- IPN: Internal Part Number or part ID for the item the customer is requesting. IPNs are your company's unique identifiers for each of your parts in catalog.
- CPN: Customer Part Number for the item the customer is requesting. This may be your customer's internal part number.
- Description: Descriptions for the requested parts in the RFQ.
- Manufacturer: Manufacturers for the requested parts in the RFQ.
- Quantity 1-6: Requested Quantities included in the RFQ. Note that CPQ supports up to 6 requested quantity breaks. This can be configured in the Quote Preferences page of System Settings by admin users.
- Target Price 1-6: Target Prices included by your customer in the RFQ. Note that CPQ supports up to 6 breaks. The number of Target Price breaks you see in this page is linked to the number of Quantity Breaks your organization has set in the Quote Preferences page of System Settings.
At least one type of part number (either MPN, IPN, or CPN), must be mapped into this page to get started.
When you upload a file into the app, CPQ will scan the column headers in the file and automatically match them to the standard columns that our solution supports.
You can also manually map or re-map the columns in your file into CPQ's columns by selecting the dropdown in each column header.
The options in the list are the column headers in the file you chose to upload. Review and select the desired option to map the column into CPQ:
Save Column Mapping For This Customer
If you have customers that send RFQ files in the same format and with the same columns consistently, select this checkbox to save the current column mapping to the customer account you selected in the Info step of the quote creation process.
The next time you upload an RFQ for the same customer account, CPQ will remember the column mapping you used last time, and will automatically apply the same mapping to this new quote.
To change the saved column mapping for a customer account, simply re-map the columns as needed, click the checkbox for this feature, and finish uploading your quote.
When you have finished confirming your quote data, then click on Next: Pricing Engine. This will take you to the Pricing Engine step, where you can review the pricing rules that will be used for your quote.
