The first step to creating a new quote in CPQ is to fill out quote header level details on the Info tab in the Create New Quote process.

Use the fields on this page to log details about the quoting opportunity. Fields are organized in three sections:

  • Quote Info
  • Contact Info
  • Quote Options

Note that CPQ requires you to fill out the "New Quote Name" and "Customer Name" fields before you can move onto the next step of the new quote creation process.

1. Quote Info

  • New Quote Name: Enter a name for your quote.
  • Registration Project ID: If the customer you're quoting for your opportunity has design registrations, add in the appropriate Registration Project ID into this field. When you upload part numbers into your quote, Supplyframe CPQ will check if Registration Pricing is available for the Registration Project ID you provided, and load in corresponding pricing into your line items. If Registration Pricing is available for uploaded line items, this will take priority over any existing pricing rules in your instance of CPQ.
  • Due Date: Enter the date by which the quote is due to your customer.
  • Due Date To Sales: This is an internal deadline set for the sales team. It represents the date by which the sales team needs to complete their part of the process, such as finalizing the quote, and getting the necessary approvals.
  • Description: Enter any additional details relevant to the quote or instructions from the customer that either you or the members of your team may need to reference while quoting this opportunity.

2. Customer Info

  • Customer Name: Enter the name of the customer account you are quoting for.
  • Contact Name, Contact Email, & Contact Phone Number: When you add a customer account to the Customer Name field, CPQ will automatically populate the Contact Name, Email, and Contact Phone Number for this customer account. Select the Contact Name dropdown to manually switch contacts to another individual.
  • Sales Organization: As applicable, you can select the specific sales organization to be assigned to this quote who is responsible for that account.
  • End Customer: Add an end customer account if relevant for the opportunity.

3. Quote Options

  • Sales Channel: Sales Channel can be used to the primary sales route or target market for a given quote. This field may includes categories like "Domestic" (indicating sales within the local market) and "Export" (indicating international sales).
  • Quote Type: Quote Types can be used to categorize quotes based on the opportunity. Dropdown values are configurable and can be defined by Admin users in System Settings.
  • Quote Reason: Quote Reasons can be used to category quotes based on the reason the customer is requesting a quote. Examples include Bid, Buy, RFI, NPI, etc. Dropdown values are configurable and can be defined by Admin users in System Settings.
  • Priority: Use this field to assign a priority for the quote. These are set values and cannot be configured. Priority values include High, Normal, and Low.
  • Currency: Choose the currency that will be used in the quote. Currency is related to the Customer and End Customer fields and will update as you change your Customer or End Customer account. Note that if End Customer exists, CPQ will override the Customer's currency, and use the currency defined for the End Customer account. Select the dropdown and choose another option if required.
  • Conversion Rate: Conversion Rates are defined in the currency_conversion_rates master data file and cannot be edited on this page. Conversion Rates will automatically update if you choose a different currency.

When you've finished entering your quote information on this page, click on Next: Settings button to define the settings you will need to use for this opportunity. For more information, review the article Create New Quote - Settings.
