There are 2 ways to create a Quote:
- Click on the Create New Quote button on the Quotes page
- Or click on the + button on the top right navigation bar. (This button is available on every
page in CPQ.)
Creating Your Quote
There are four steps to create new quotes in Supplyframe CPQ:
- Enter Quote Information
- Configure Quote Settings
- Check Mapping (Only applicable if you choose to upload a BOM or RFQ file from your computer.)
- Review Pricing Engine Rules
1. Info
You'll first need to enter your quote header details, which includes information such as those listed
below. Required fields in this step include New Quote Name and Customer Name:
- New Quote Name
- Registration Project ID
- Due Date
- Due Date to Sales
- Description
- Customer Name
- Contact Name
- Contact Email
- Contact Phone Number
- Sales Organization
- End Customer
- Sales Channel
- Quote Type
- Quote Reason
- Priority
- Currency
(Note: currency will default to the currency that is specified for your chosen customer
account. If end customer was added, CPQ will default to the currency for the end customer
account.)
2. Settings
Next, you'll be prompted to choose the Settings for your new quote.
If you have a BOM or RFQ file to upload, click on Browse and select a file from your computer. If not, move forward without selecting this option.
Note that the file formats listed below are supported. But, for best results, we recommend using .xlsx file types.
- .xlsx
- .xls
- .csv
- .tsv
Configurable Quote Settings include the following options:
- Multipliers
- Last Pick Settings
- Quantity Splitting Settings
- Suggested Price Settings
- External Suggestions
The Packing Methods feature can be used to determine which package types the application chooses and loads into your line items during the auto-matching process. Select or deselect the Packing Methods you need for your quote and reorder the priority in which they should be loaded into your line items.
Lastly, you can choose to move the new quote into an existing open folder, or to keep your quote in the root folder "All".
3. Mapping
This step only applies if you've chosen a file to upload into Supplyframe CPQ. If no file was selected,
then Mapping does not apply, and you will be taken to the Pricing Engine page.
In the Mapping step, Supplyframe CPQ will automatically parse the file you've chosen to upload,
automatically extract columns, and map them to the standard fields that our application supports.
Users can also manually map the columns from the file into the application by clicking the drop-downs
in the column headers and selecting the correct option.
The standard columns supported include the following:
- MPN (manufacturer part number)
- IPN (internal part number)
- CPN (customer part number)
- Description
- Manufacturer
- Quantity Breaks 1-6 (Depends on how many quantity breaks you've configured for your account in System Settings and Quote Preferences page.
- Quantity (Limit one million)
- Target Price 1-6 (same as Quantity above)
You also have the option by checking the box to save your current column mapping to the customer account that you've selected for this quote.
This is relevant for customers that tend to send RFQs in the same column configuration. Map the
columns as needed and select this feature. Then the next time you upload a quote for the same customer count, the specific mapping you've configured and saved last time will automatically be applied to the quote.
4. Pricing Engine
The last step in the Create New Quote process is to review the Pricing Engine rules that will be used to price the line items in your quote. These Pricing Rules are based on the Global and Customer Specific Pricing Rules you have set up in your System Settings.
If the customer account you've chosen in the Info step of the new quote creation process has
Customer Specific Pricing Rules associated with it, then these rules will apply to your quote and will populate on this page. However, if Customer Specific Pricing Rules do not exist for your chosen customer account, then the Global Pricing Rules will be applied to your quote.
You can tell whether Customer Specific or Global Pricing Rules are being applied to your new quote by checking the blue banner under the Pricing Engine tab. CPQ will tell you which rules are being used for your list:
Note that on this page, you can add new Price Sources or remove existing ones, but you cannot edit
the Advanced Pricing Formulas section. However, when Pricing Rules need to be changed, Admins can click on the System Settings link in the blue banner to edit pricing rules on the System Settings page.
Once you've reviewed the Pricing Engine rules that will be applied to your quote, then click on Save
to upload your RFQ and conclude the Create New Quote process.
Viewing Your New Quote
1. File Upload
After saving your quote, CPQ will take you to the new quote you've created. If you chose a file to upload in the Settings step of the new quote creation process, CPQ will upload the line items from your selected file into the application, where we reference the part number details that were provided during Mapping, to automatically match them to parts in your Catalog.
Once CPQ has matched to a part:
- Additional corresponding part details will populate.
- Pricing Engine will automatically price the line item.
- And auto-assignment rules will be applied.
Note that it is possible that CPQ is unable to match your uploaded parts to a part in your Catalog. When this happens, you may see either No Match Found or No Exact Match appear in the Manufacturer column.
- No Exact Match: This means that CPQ was unable to find an exact Catalog match for the provided part, but there are suggestions the user can review.
- No Match Found: This means that CPQ was unable to find an exact Catalog match for the provided part, and there are no suggestions available for users to review.
2. No File Chosen
If you chose not to upload a file in the Settings step above, CPQ will bring you to an empty quote that has the quote header details you specified. Use the Add New Part feature to add part numbers to your quote.
